FROM THE WEBMASTER WITHOUT FEAR NOR FAVOUR

There's a a deal of pleasure to be had doing this website thing.

The Pleasure > I have truncated the Match Report, showing detail pertinent to the Scrambled Goal only.

Match report: Silsden 1- 2 Cammell Laird:- Second Division Trophy semi-final first leg.

On a very bumpy, bobbly pitch it was hard for Lairds to get their normal passing game going, and chances were at a premium. Good saves from both keepers kept the game even until just before half time, when the Silsden keeper pulled off a magnificent diving save to his right, and after the ball was cleared the referee gave one of his many strange decisions- he gave Lairds a corner - it clearly wasn`t a corner, - perhaps he was trying to make up for the fact that he should have given a free kick to us on the edge of the box (but didn`t) .However, with almost the last touch of the half, John Collins came up for the corner and scored a scrambled goal to give Lairds the lead right on half time!

There seems to be a mistake regarding the goal that john collins scored for cammell lairds against silsden it was in fact a great header that bulleted in to the bottom corner. Thanks

Nice to hear from you Kelly.

On the strength of your argument, I have changed the Match Report to reflect your description & send Copy here to the Office of C.Ross-Bar in the hope that he agrees with your description: John Collins came up for the corner and scored a great header that bulleted in to the bottom corner to give Lairds the lead right on half time!

I can't see anything wrong with that & feel sure Ross-Bar will admit to it being a great description of what actually happened.

Thank you for your interest in the website & we hope you continue to visit same & add your comment whenever you think it necessary.

The girl who sent you the e-mail also thinks John Collins is the best looking stud playing football! She thinks he is the best player of all time....(he`s good, but not that good!)....the report I posted was nearer the truth, and my report won`t upset anyone from Silsden, (who we are playing this week in the return leg)- and most importantly, my report won`t wind up their players to play out of their skins and beat us!!
Although she meant well, I would prefer it if you kept to the original script- it actually wasn`t a bullet header,- it was a vital, great goal, -but it wasn`t a bullet header.
But it`s great to see that so many people are logging on and taking the trouble to comment.
Leading goalscorers to follow soon- our top scorers are on the nwcfl website, but not all our scorers are in the league`s list.
Speak to you soon, (hopefully with a positive result from the Silsden return leg!

Regards, (C.ROSS-BAR)

C.ROSS-BAR

I suspected same & thought the lass had a crush on Collins. What a response, though!

Ordinarily, I wouldn't have changed anything. I was just taken with the email & that someone cared.

Fabulous to have someone comment like that & I hope she gets her way with the Player > when the season is done.

Regards

Mike

PS . I wasn't there but am left wondering was the goal Scrambled or was it in fact a great header that bulleted in to the bottom corner.?
